Your scans, cropped.
The whole roll at once.
Cut Corners finds the exposed frame inside the film rebate, straightens the tilt, and applies a non-destructive crop — to one photo or an entire roll. No uploads, no manual nudging, one Undo to take it all back.

How it works
Lightroom plugins can't read pixels, so Cut Corners pairs the catalog with its own computer-vision engine. Everything runs locally on your machine.
Select a roll, pick your film type
Color negative, B&W negative, slide, already-inverted scans — or auto-detect for mixed rolls. Format presets cover 35mm full and half frame, XPan, 120 (6×4.5 to 6×9), and 4×5.
The engine finds each frame
Per-image detection characterizes the rebate tone, masks scanner background and sprocket holes, fits the frame rectangle, and snaps each edge to the sub-pixel rebate transition.
Crops apply in one undoable step
Every crop is a normal Lightroom develop setting — fully non-destructive, editable in the Crop tool, reversible with a single Undo. Frames it isn't sure about are left untouched and labeled so you can finish the stragglers by hand.
Features
Built by a film shooter who got tired of cropping 38 frames after every scanning session.
Batch crop & straighten
Whole rolls from Library or File → Plug-in Extras. Detection runs per image, so a tilted frame mid-roll doesn't throw off the rest.
Settings & Preview
Tune detection visually: a live overlay shows the mask, film area, detected frame, and final crop, re-running as you drag each slider.
Every film type
Color negative (orange mask aware), B&W negative, slides, already-inverted scans, and an auto mode for mixed rolls.
35mm, 120, and beyond
Aspect presets for full frame, half frame, XPan panoramic, 6×4.5, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, and 4×5 — or set a custom target for anything else.
Scanner-aware masking
Blown backlight, dark scanner beds, film-holder edges, and sprocket holes are detected and excluded before the frame is fitted.
Non-destructive, always
Crops are standard develop settings applied in one catalog write. One Undo reverts the entire roll; the Crop tool refines any frame.
Fits your conversion workflow
Crop and straighten first, then convert with Negative Lab Pro or your tool of choice — the borders never skew your conversion again.
Runs entirely offline
Your scans never leave your machine. The bundled detection engine needs no install, no account, and no internet.
Honest about misses
Skipped frames get a color label and a reason naming the exact rule — “frame 58% of film area, below 64%” — never a silent bad crop.
